Welcome to Jack's World!

In Mommy Without Hair?  My World Turned Upside Down, first-time author Selene Benitone introduces four-year-old Jack who shares his story about his mother’s cancer, the changes cancer brings to his home, and how his family faces her treatment with faith. Jack tells his story in simple, straightforward language with a positive point-of-view. And he reveals the sometimes humorous, sometimes emotional aspects of daily life in a family with a Mommy Without Hair.

This illustrated children’s book provides a teaching tool that makes cancer treatment understandable to younger children and connects families affected by cancer.

Colorfully illustrated by Jeanne Seagle of Memphis, Tennessee, the pages move through engaging and warm scenes where Jack and his family talk openly and safely about his mother’s cancer and her successful treatment.

BOOK REVIEWS

"Never in my 23 years of taking care of cancer patients, have I met a young woman with such dedication in orchestrating her own care. This self advocacy is not only contagious but laudable. This enthusiasm has now been directed toward the creation of this delightful book to help children deal with a cancer diagnosis. I know parents will find the book very helpful in dealing with this very tough situation"

-Dr. Kurt Tauer, M.D., F.A.C.P. (Oncologist, The West Clinic, Memphis, TN)

"A wonderful idea, beautifully executed, by a courageous patient and family with first-hand knowledge of a problem facing too many families"

-Dr. James M. Markert, M.D. (Director, Division of Neurosurgery, University of Alabama at Birmingham)
